Chocolate Pretzel Caramel Apples by Faring Well

I am so overwhelmed by the pure kindness so many of you poured out to me after my post earlier this week. It just further emphasizes how tight-knit an online community can be, and how we are not alone in our struggles one bit. Thank you from the depths of my heart for being so heartfelt and sincere in your comments, texts, and emails – I am one lucky girl to have connected with you, and will be taking the time this weekend to respond to each one of your comments with the same attention and care that you gave your note to me. Lots of hugs to you guys.

I am here with another recipe for you this week, a double feature! How exciting. I will be forgoing my Saturday Mix posts, although we have had a great run for the past six months, to embark on another little series I will be introducing to you soon. But for today, we have these caramel apples I made in partnership with the lovely people over at VSCO for their Max Journal. This specific journal is all about discovery and growth for young women, and I feel so honored to contribute to their page. Although I’ve included some images here to woo you with, the entire recipe is available if you pop over to their site here.

A few notes in order to make this recipe as stellar as possible: make sure your apples are wax-free and completely absent of moisture. The tiniest bit of water on the apple will make the caramel seize (speaking from experience here). Also, this caramel apple is all about a thin layer of caramel, followed by a good dip in melted dark chocolate after the caramel has cooled on the apple in the fridge, and a handsome roll in crush pretzels (I use spelt pretzels by Newman’s Own to keep it wheat free). The flavors in this treat are totally back flip worthy. The kind where you take one bite, and before you know it the entire apple is gone – whoops! But that’s okay, it is fall after all. – xx

Get the recipe here. This post was sponsored by VSCO and the Max Journal. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I am a huge fan of everything VSCO creates. Thank you for supporting Faring Well by supporting it’s wonderful sponsors!

What a wonderful fall treat! I could definitely see these being a hit at a Halloween party. The simple caramel sauce is perfect. I must say am a little sad about not having your Saturday links, but I sure am looking forward to the next series. As always, your pictures are stunning. The whole story over at VSCO for their Max Journal is fabulous. They are quite lucky to have you. Sending happy vibes. xx, Jess

Ooo yes! I am so in the mood for a halloween party now ;) we just put up our pumpkin lights last night (hehe). And I know, the links were so fun and may return – I just was finding it hard to set aside enough time for those posts and needed to give it a rest for a little bit. But this new series will still be fun, I think! And thank you to the moon about the photos + VSCO collab, sheesh! Making me blush hardcore over here girl. Hope you have a fabulous weekend Jess, hugs! xo

So many layers of goodness here- I love it! I’ve tried making healthier caramel apples before and failed so I think I need to give your version a go. And so much fun to coat them in pretzels and chocolate. (I love those Newman’s spelt ones too!) That pic of you holding the apple is the cutest btw. :)

Yay for another Newman’s fan! And thank you Emilie, you are so crazy sweet for leaving me this comment here. I hope if you do give them a try that they meet your caramel apple standards! Happy fall friend, xx.
